WordPress: Contributor Day – Ode A

15 verses of the new poem by Herb Miller, of bobbing wide’s oik-plugins, entitled “Contributor Day” but spelt wrong.

You can code jQuery
but like P-H-P more
then get involved
with WordPress core.

Are you a pixel perfect designer
making things look and feel much finer?
Then with your skills you could go far;
become a UI de-sign star.

Doc-u-men-ta-tion
a never ending role
but words that explain WordPress
give WordPress heart and soul

When you find a 
brand new bug
Raise a TRAC 
... and get a hug

If you know what
a theme should do
then why not do
a Theme review

Develop patches
and test the drops
when it's released
you'll get some props.

If what you say sounds Greek to me
and your first tongue is English not
then I suggest that you could be
a translator - a polyglot.

If your name's Jonny 
and you're from Brum
Then moderate
the theme forum

How many of you 
are not aware
that a link to WordPress can 
"Show you care"?

This next idea is 
not that funny
Just donate some
of your money

Another role that oft needs manning
labelled "Dee-ve-lop-ment planning"

The next release is getting near
Help flesh out that new idea.

If "say what you see" 
is what you do best
then take part in 
a User test

Another way to give it back
Join the chat on 
WordPress slack

I've not got time to list the rest
like BuddyPress and Beta Test

But what I really do suggest
is "contribute what you do best"

5% is what they say
7 hours a month ( about a day )
When not at work or on holiday
Give back to WordPress in your own way

For Americans we could try rhyming with cell, I’ll be a bit of a fudge… but I also understand Scots prefer tablet to fudge.
